AI Wrote a Pretty Good Fundraising Letter (in 5 seconds)

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research organization that conducts cutting-edge research in various fields of AI and shares its findings with the broader scientific community.

One of the tools they’ve developed is ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that uses the OpenAI GPT language model to generate responses to user input. It can provide a conversational interface for a variety of applications, such as customer service, language translation, and personal assistants.

I just used their chat AI tool to write a fundraising letter for a Catholic non-profit.

Here is the appeal letter written by OpenAI in just 5 seconds. I have not made any edits to it. It’s a pretty good baseline to get you moving forward.

This is the prompt that I used: write a 1000 word fundraising appeal letter for a Catholic non-profit.

As you can see, the letter is generic because the input prompt is generic. You can get a more specific letter by adding more details to the prompt.

Dear [Donor],

We hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. As you may know, our Catholic non-profit organization is dedicated to helping those in need within our community. Our mission is to provide support and resources to those who are struggling with poverty, homelessness, addiction, and other challenges.

We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support in our fundraising efforts. Your donation can make a significant impact in the lives of those we serve. Your generosity will help us to continue providing essential services such as food, shelter, counseling, and education to those who need it most.

As a Catholic organization, we believe that it is our duty to serve those in need and to provide a helping hand to those who are struggling. Our work is guided by our faith and our commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe that by working together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

Your donation will go directly towards supporting our programs and services. Whether you choose to make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor, your support will be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small, and every dollar counts.

We know that times are tough for many people right now, and we understand that you may be facing your own challenges. However, we hope that you will consider supporting our organization and the important work that we do. Your donation will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve, and we cannot do it without your help.

Thank you for your consideration, and we hope that you will join us in our mission to serve others.

Brice was born and raised Catholic. After enjoying a successful career in technology consulting with Accenture and PriceWaterhouseCoopers in cities across the United States (Dallas, San Francisco, Paris, Abu Dhabi, and London) around the world, he left it to help his Catholic diocese in London, England with a fundraising campaign. The campaign went on to raise over $60 million, the largest sum ever raised for the diocese and in the United Kingdom.

Learning from professional fundraisers, he figured out the basics and then left the diocese to focus on what he loves most: building Catholic charities that change the culture, save lives, and save souls.

Brice currently lives in Texas and travels the world helping Catholics fundraise. This website is where he shares what he is doing and how he is raising funds for Catholic causes and missions. That way you can move more quickly with your next appeal.
